Both Mack and Nala have been tested for 210 genetic conditions that can be passed on to their offspring and have been cleared for 209. They both came back inconclusive on progressive retinal atrophy which can sometimes be difficult to determine with just a genetic screening. They have also had OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of America) clearances for their joints as well.
My name is Genn Curry and I began my life with golden retrievers more than 20 years ago with my first Mack dog. You see his image in the header of this website. He was my baby and he saw me through many very difficult days of pain when I was sick for years and years. My Mack knew when I needed him and was always there. He was the kindest and gentlest dog I've ever known. I ran a daycare and he allowed all the kids to crawl on him and love on him all the time. My kids were little when we got him and he was named after the the caring father figure Mack truck from the Cars movie, and that is who he was. When Mack passed away I quickly found out that the price of golden retrievers has become much more that 13 years before. It took quite awhile to find a second golden that I could afford at the time and at that moment I said that I wanted to get a female next and begin to raise them so people like me could afford to buy them for their families.
It took a couple of years to find a female that I could afford, and that the breeder would give me breeding rights for. I had to spend a little more that I wanted to, but this mission is important to me. I really want to be able to bless people with an affordable, healthy, beautiful dog that has had the best possible start to life. I believe that golden retrievers are the best family dog that you can get and the price of them has become unreachable in so many cases. When you buy a dog from me, that dog is yours FULLY. I don't charge extra for breeding rights because I believe the dog is yours to do with what you please. That being said I do ensure that my baby dogs go to the best homes, to people who can care for them properly.
My philosophy on raising puppies in probably unconventional to most breeders but that's ok. I do early neurological stimulation with the puppies. I make lots of loud noise around them and clip their nails often. I give them lots of baths and teach them to climb stairs. I teach them to sleep through the night right away without mom. I socialize, socialize, socialize. They play with cats and ducks and other dogs, with toddlers, kids, teens and adults. They go to stores with me and I'm careful to keep them safe from stepping on the ground except for at my house and my mother in law's house in town (Parvo risk). They live in my living room for 10 weeks and interact with me constantly. I believe my baby dogs turn out the way they do because they are truly loved deeply. I have to name them when they are born because I constantly talk to them. They leave a big hole when they go to their homes.
I am easy to work with if you find yourself in a financial situation that is difficult. I charge a low rate in comparison to what golden retrievers sell for. However, I know it is still a lot of money for some of us. Please talk to me about your situation, don't just give up on getting a Ginger Puppy. My mission is to provide baby dogs to families and those who need them, that may look different in your situation than it does in someone else's.
I have always said that I didn't have read-headed babies, so I've had to buy them!
